Fleeing from the Nazis, two children, a journalist father, and a dog must make their way through the hazardous Pyrenees mountain range.

Siblings Mitja and Katja take a trip in a mobile home with their mother to get away from a tragic event that has affected the whole family. Their journey takes them to a run-down campsite by the sea. It soon becomes clear that nothing here is as it seems and that there is a big secret behind the beach and its inhabitants.

Set on the background of economical migration, the film tells the story of Clara, a divorced Romanian mother in her thirties who needs to work abroad in Ulm, a German Town by the Danube river. She is as a babysitter for a little girl that is very fond of. At the same time, she had to leave behind her own 12 years old son who is now in the care of his grandfather. They live in a poor Romanian village also by the Danube river. Feeling abandoned by his mother, the boy runs away from home in an attempt to reach his mother by traveling on a small boat upriver. In this context, Clara has to come back home and face the life she left behind.

The tech-savvy twins Philipp and Johannes and their sister Elli grow up in a Christian environment. However, when Philipp is diagnosed with cancer, they decide to radically change their lives and really let it rip from now on. Together with their sister, they set up the YouTube channel “The Real Life Guys” and embark on spectacular adventures. Among other things, they build a rocket bathtub, a submarine they weld together themselves and a manned drone. The “Real Life Guys” infect a rapidly growing community with their zest for life. But when Elli has an accident and Philipp is diagnosed with cancer again, the twins learn with overwhelming intensity what really matters and how to embrace life in all its facets.

Vienna, 1989: Journalist André Müller, known for his radical interviews with celebrities, travels to his hometown to interview his mother for a major weekly newspaper. In a desperate struggle, he tries to finally break the silence and extract from his mother the secrets of her life and his, which are closely linked to 20th-century Austrian-German history.
