The outbreak of the war puts a strain on their relationship when Gunnar gets called up for military service.

Otherwise, they live completely separate lives. This Wednesday they wake up together. Karin showers and leave Douglas fancy apartment at Strandvägen, Stockholm. She lives with her father, former captain Larsson. When Karin come home, Baltzar is at the door. Baltzar is a typical "guy" full of ideas, not always successful. It also turns out that Baltzar had a relationship with one of Karin's sisters.

The farmer Per Jonsson doesn't think too well about the factory in the neighborhood, since he thinks that it destroys the fishing and makes the young people leave the countryside. When the workers at the factory go on strike, they ask him to sell milk to them and let them work in his forest. But Jonsson is stubborn and refuses to give them any help at all. At least until he is in an accident and also need help.

She also hope that it will make her husband come out of his bitterness to have a young boy around. The result is unfortunately quite the opposite.

Women of all ages are drawn to him and give him their invitations. To be at peace, Adam escapes on his sailboat out into the archipelago and settles down on a small islet. But the ladies follow him and in their footsteps follow jealous fiancés and angry courting cavaliers.

Harald Handfaste is a 15th century Swedish Robin Hood, who fights against foreign oppression. He becomes the leader of a band of highwaymen and they start dealing with the evil bailiff. However, the bailiff will stop at nothing to catch Handfaste and show the people who is in charge. He even attempts to marry Handfaste's beloved Karin, and when she refuses to subdue, the bailiff decides to execute both her, her father and a monk who has been helping them.
