The world of 10-year old Nina has been in turmoil since her father lost his job. Despite weeks of strike, his factory closed down. The manager had tampered with the accounts and precipitated its collapse. But rumour has it that a nest-egg remains hidden somewhere in the factory. Nina and her friend Mehdi spring into action to help Nina’s dad out. This tale of our times, which is also a coming-of-age story, stages the interaction between the concerns of children and those of adults.

Jules's life has taken a sad turn after his parents' divorce, but his routine is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of his grandmother Jeanne, who is on a very important mission. Jules's big sister Lola, a gloomy 17-year-old, is also roped into the journey. Along the trip, Jeanne reveals to her grandchildren that she is endowed with a special gift: she can talk to cats and dogs. Nevertheless, a talking cat will remain a cat haughty, teasing, cuddly, dreamy and a talking dog a dog empathic, hyperactive and generous. Thanks to their grandmother, at the time when they think that their lives are falling apart, Jules and Lola rediscover the extraordinary dormant family legacy within themselves.

Samuel is 23 when he arrives in Rwanda as an audiovisual facilitator at the French Cultural Centre in Kigali. Having made this choice to avoid the classic military service, he finds himself without a camera in a country at war. The French army has even set up camp within the Cultural Centre. During the 18 months he spends there, the warning signs accumulate, but Samuel doesn't believe or doesn't want to believe them. What he is told seems impossible to him: France cannot possibly support a regime that commits or encourages such atrocities. It doesn't keep him though from enjoying the country and partying, but doubt creeps in, his certitudes start wavering, and Samuel finally opens his eyes.
