Alatha's father calls himself a Mover. Using African dance moves, he helps kids in Khayelitsha township to transcend their hardship (drugs, poverty and abuse) and "find their superpowers." The Mover is also a single father. And while he has helped many kids, he still has difficulty getting his own daughter to find her own powers. But in a tender moment together, this is all about to change.

Takayama enters the training program of JNR with the ambition of becoming one of the venerable train company's engineers. As a trainee he is teamed up with fight-ready Sakurai and stolid Iwaizumi and fellow Haruka Kōmi who has encyclopedic knowledge of trains. Together they learn how security officers for the train line work and get involved in more than one tricky situation.

Matsuinu follows the everyday adventures of six round and cuddly pooches that lead peaceful and relaxing lives, encouraging the audience to share in their warm and fluffy feelings.
