The 'friends' of the title include musicians Mary Ann Redmond, Buck Brown, Tommy Lofgren, Mark Lofgren, Mike Lofgren, Paul Bell, Jeffrey 'Skunk' Baxter. The venue is the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia; on its stage, Lofgren and his fellow players perform eighteen numbers before a roaring crowd
