Ahmed Marei (May 14, 1942 - July 16, 1995) was an Egyptian actor. He starred in Shadi Abdel Salam's The Night of Counting the Years (1969) and The Eloquent Peasant (1970). Marei has also been featured in The Message (1976) and A Song on the Passage (1972).

The Message
In sixth-century Mecca, Prophet Muhammad receives his first revelation from God as a messenger. Three years later, he's not alone in his quest and publicly declares his prophecy. Muhammad is fought by Abu Sufian and his wife Hind, rulers of Mecca. Muhammad's followers are hunted and tortured but he continues his calling.

The Night of Counting the Years
Set in 1881, a year before the start of British colonial rule, it is based on the true story of the Abd el-Rasuls, an Upper-Egyptian clan that had been robbing a cache of mummies they have discovered at tomb DB320 near the village of Kurna, and selling the artifacts on the black market. After a conflict within the clan, one of its members made a crucial decision when the Antiquities Service arrived.

A Song on the Passage
Set during the Six-Day War, the connection between a group of Egyptian soldiers on a passage in the desert and the command center drops. They try to survive despite the enemy attacks and lack of ammunition and supplies.

In Desert and Wilderness
Fourteen year old Polish boy Stas Tarkowski and eight year old Nel Rawlison from England are kidnapped as the hostages by Arabic fanatics and taken to their religion leader. Then they manage to escape and try to return to their fathers. Children have a lot of dangerous adventures, meet two Black kids; Kali and Mea, who also help them, make a friendship with an elephant and help one Black's tribe.

The Eloquent Peasant
Based on one of the major literary texts survived from the Middle Kingdom, the classical period of Egyptian literature, The Eloquent Peasant is a combination of a morality/folk tale and a poem. The events are set between 2160 and 2025 BC. When the peasant Khun-anup and his donkey stumble upon the lands of the noble Rensi, the peasant’s goods are confiscated and he’s unjustly accused of theft. The peasant petitions Rensi who is so taken by the peasant’s eloquence that he report his astonishing discovery to the king. The king realises the peasant has been wronged but delays judgement so as to he can hear more of his eloquence. The peasant makes a total of nine petitions until finally, his goods are returned.

Shadows on the Other Side
The love relationship between Mahmoud and Rose develops until she gets pregnant. Mimi kicks Mahmoud out of the room that she rented him, because she trusted Mahmoud with Rose whom she has cared for since she was a child.

Beyond Justice
A woman's ex-husband, who is the son of an Arab chieftain, kidnaps their teenage son and brings him back to Morocco, where the boy is to be made the leader of the tribe. The child's mother hires a mercenary to get her son and bring him back to her.

The Other Half
After the death of his wife, the head of a family lives in emptiness and boredom after his children became busy with their lives. He meets a lady whose circumstances are similar to his and the two decide to get married without telling their children, which creates a lot of problems.
