Russians in the City of Angels

Russians will survive everywhere. And in the desert, and at the bottom of the sea, and in America. They will learn everything and they can teach the Americans a lot ... For example, how to catch criminals. Russian investigator Andrei Somov fell in love with an American dancer and moved with her to America for permanent residence. He wanted to work in the police, but he was not hired. Therefore, he has to wash dishes, look after the sick, clean, wash, walk other people's dogs, cook. But his dream of becoming a detective is coming true: he becomes the best detective in Los Angeles. Each episode of the film has its own plot.

One War

May, 8, 1945. Maxim Prokhorov, major of People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs, arrives at a small northern island. There live eleven people: five young women, five children from one to three years, and the captain Karp Nichiporuk. The young mothers were exiled to the island from the territories occupied by fascists, and their children are the children of the German occupier. Arrival of the major upsets the casual life on the island. The major has to "clean up" the island and the nearest settlements. The military man authorizes a plan to organize a training camp in the region for saboteurs. The night of May, 9, the women are told about the German capitulation, their hopes for forgiveness and return home become a certainty. They are even allowed to celebrate the Victory.

The Time of Women

A village girl Mira dreams of a groom, and now an officer stays in their house for the night, and Mira soon discovers that she is pregnant... Valya, who returned from Venice, where she lived for two years, meets Alexei, her sister's lover – and she likes him. Vera, a retired ballerina, teaches yoga at a hotel and falls in love with a married man. And one day a Spanish theater comes to their city with a ballet ... each of the women will have to make difficult decisions in an attempt to find happiness.

Border Blues

Moscow police detective Andrei Somov resigns and immigrates to the US, but has to accept a menial job in a restaurant while his adolescent son and pregnant daughter-in-law are denied exit visas. 'Andy' does however get to know some LAPD cops after volunteering his expertise and Russian language skills and is sent to Tijuana to fetch cheap tiles. On that Mexican journey, Somov bumps into Larry, another ethnic Russian but US citizen who lost his daughter years ago and now helps families to illegally enter the States. Meanwhile, the medium Michael March receives a vision about a mad bomber who targets pharmaceutical companies and gets a bad feeling upon holding an envelope that belongs to Larry.
