As Tears Go By
Yaakov Tcherniak and his son Yitzhak have a small company that organizes parties and events. They travel to weddings, bar mitzvas and birthdays, and supply the sound equipment and a female vocalist who sings Israeli songs. Their dream is to expand the business and supply catering services as well. To this end, they need another vehicle in addition to their pick-up truck. Yitzhak is supposed to be the driver of the second vehicle. Sadly, he just can't manage to pass his driving test. During the course of the film, the Tcherniak family must deal with this and other problems that arise.

Love in Suspenders
Tami is a widow in her 60s and Beno is a widower in his 70s. She is optimistic, always smiling, and still talking to her husband who has been dead for a few years already. Beno is tougher on the outside, but also still suffering from the loss of his wife. Tami and her husband were successful singers so now she lives comfortably in a beautiful retirement home. He, on the other hand, is finding it hard to pay the monthly rent. Notwithstanding their differences in lifestyle and personality, and their interfering offspring and neighbors, they eventually fall in love.

Over the Ocean
Menachem and Rosa Greenberg, a couple of Holocaust survivors, have had a difficult life. Their friend, Morris Greenspan, made his fortune in Canada through shady deals, and is a despicable character who urges the couple to emigrate from Israel to the good life in Canada. Their son, Chaim "Chaimon" Greenberg, is aware of the growing conflicts in his parents' home in light of their financial difficulties and the interference of their mysterious friend, who is also secretly courting his mother. His sister, Miri, is a naive teenager who falls under the spell of Shultz "the Hontroveltnik". Other participants in the film include Oshik Levi as the taxi driver, their neighbor and friend of their parents, Shai Idelson as Gaby, Chaimon's best friend and the taxi driver's son, and Sini Pater as Uncle Leizer from the kibbutz, who represents the Zionist antithesis to Morris's exile and smoothness. In the end, after a crisis that threatens the narrator's world, the family decides to stay in Israel.

Amjad is an Arab-Israeli journalist whose problems with cultural identity drive himself and all around him crazy especially his wife, Bushra.

A Bit of Luck
Vivi and her father emigrate to Israel where he eventually gets recognized by friends and takes up work singing in a small bar. Vivi works there as a waitress until she gets her lucky break when her father goes blind and she takes over from him. Spotted by a crooked talent scout, who signs her up, she ends up performing lots of shows but doesn't get to receive all the money she has earned.

Batito Is Unemployed
An unemployed man breaks in to a party member's apartment. He stumbles on evidence of corruption inside the party. The land lord which is also the head of the party bribe the unemployed with perks that eventually puts the burglar at the top of the party.

Kazablan
An adaptation of a popular Israeli stage musical. Kazablan is an army veteran turned gang leader in the Israeli port of Jaffa who masks his feelings of bitterness with a lot of bravado. He's sweet on Rachel, a young woman who lives with her father and stepmother. The budding relationship scandalizes the neighbors (not to mention Rachel's parents) and infuriates Yanush, a middle-aged shoe store owner who wants Rachel for himself. (Yanush feels he's entitled to marry Rachel since they're both Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern European origins, whereas Kazablan is a Sephardic Jew from Morocco.) The neighborhood has something else to worry about besides the antics of Kazablan and his gang: the city wants to tear down their crumbling homes. The residents pool their resources to save their houses, but the money that's collected is stolen. When he's jailed for the theft, Kazablan must find a way to clear himself.

Afula Express
David is a garage electrician, who dreamt all of his life of becoming a magician, but had no luck in it. His girlfriend Batya wants an ordinary life, but David is still looking for his dream, so he links up with Romanian immigrant Shimon, who is an expert magician.
