Solicitor Lukács is well known for his expertise in divorce. Lukács, while driving his car to Siófok, accidentally bumps into his wife and their friend, Bognár Miklós. Misunderstanding the situation, he asks for a divorce.
The Crucial Moment
Kulinyi, the theatre secretary in Budapest, becomes the director of a rural theatre. He takes with him a talented, budding theatre couple, Gábor Bálint and Éva Pap. dr. Benedek Gábor, a famous solicitor in Eger, is the defense counsel of a murderer, who killed his wife out of jealousy. Gábor lives in a happy marriage with Anna. One day, however, Szentgyörgyi Péter, a famous pianist, comes to Eger. He once was loved by Anna, who in those days was training to become an artist herself. Gábor has no knowledge of these events of the past. He, therefore, associates the now renewed relationship with the story of the murderer he is the legal representative of.

Antal Pager defends a strange woman, Maria Lazar, and the next thing he knows he is named a co-respondent in a divorce case. Noboy believes his story that Maria is a stranger he has never seen before and his family press him to marry the divorcée as the right thing to do. He does so with the understanding that they will be divorced as soon as possible. But the best-laid plans sometimes change.
