Seelos: Doctor of Souls
This 90-minute, 28-character, one-man play written and performed by Casey Groves, filmed and edited by William Gil, and directed by George Drance was commissioned by the National Seelos Shrine and the Seelos Center in New Orleans. It tells the story of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, a Redemptorist missionary priest who served in the United States during the Civil War era. His powerful intercession for God's healing power helped countless people with terminal illnesses and injuries. He was also an outstanding minister to souls in need of God's tender mercy. There was always a long line to see him for the Sacrament of Penance, and one woman expressed that he could see right into her heart when she went to him for confession.
