Leonard Bernstein Centennial Celebration at Tanglewood

In honor of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, Tanglewood—the famed summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra—dedicated its entire 2018 season to the iconic composer, conductor, performer, educator and humanitarian. The festivities culminated on Bernstein’s centennial birthday on August 25, 2018, in a special celebrity-studded gala concert. Directed for the stage by James Darrah, The Bernstein Centennial Celebration at Tanglewood illuminates the breadth of Bernstein’s incredible life and career, which inspired generations of music lovers around the globe – from his talent as a composer to his generosity in mentoring other composers and musicians, his inimitable role as a driving musical force at Tanglewood for over 50 years and more.

Summer Night Concert: 2014 - Vienna Philharmonic

The renowned orchestra presents the world's biggest annual classical open air concert live from their hometown Vienna, Austria on Thursday, May 29th, 2014. The Summer Night Concert with the Vienna Philharmonic is an annual open-air event that takes place in the magical setting of the Schönbrunn Palace Park in Vienna with the palace as a magnificent backdrop. As a child, Christoph Eschenbach was forced to flee Wrocław in 1945. On 25 April 2025, he returns to his home town to commemorate the end of the Second World War. For this solemn concert, the conductor has chosen to combine Arnold Schönberg's post-war work A Survivor from Warsaw with Johannes Brahms's German Requiem.

Hélène Grimaud, 11 September 2001 Great moments in music

Hélène Grimaud's eagerly awaited debut at the BBC Proms was scheduled for 11 September 2001. Until the last moment, the organisers hesitated to go ahead with the performance, such was the shock following the collapse of the World Trade Centre. But London's Royal Albert Hall did go ahead with the concert, in which the soloist gave a masterful performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Christoph Eschenbach.
