Alisa: Excitement

The plot revolves around the rehearsal of the play “Excitement” in which Freindlikh is to play a famous American writer from New York. The actress and director have heated debates about the eccentric character. They discuss the process of creation, its mysterious mechanisms, the birth of a work of art in general. They also talk about the world around Alisa outside the theatre – her family, home, friends, interests and her beloved St. Petersburg. The film is meant to commemorate the great Russian actress’s 85th anniversary.

A White White Night

A detective film with some serious depth. Called back from Moscow on a search for a missing person, this is a story of a man forced to plunge into the past, reminded at every turn of the previous life he led in Saint Petersburg. He must come to terms with the present to move forward - and on top of it all, he's not even sure he's awake. The over-arching presence of St Petersburg, sometimes benign, sometimes threatening, bears witness to his journey.

Kalimba

An ambitious professor of psychiatry, Viktor Meshchersky, conducts a dangerous psychological experiment in which, under false pretenses, he locks victims and their abusers in the basement, hiding his true goals. The subsequent investigation will reveal the real motives of the professor, and will tie together the confusing stories of all participants in the cruel experiment.

Life on Earth has changed after the visit of alien ships hovering in various parts of the planet. Their passengers — biopages or "Vitaliki", as they are popularly called — produce a substance called "prak". Its purpose, as well as the purpose of the aliens' visit, is unknown, but nurse Nina (Irina Salikova) from a quiet provincial town hopes to help her sick father with the help of prak. After contacting Vitalik, Nina learns the truth about extraterrestrial beings, which completely changes her life.

The Leningrad Jazz Club is preparing to celebrate its 30th anniversary and the birthday of the club's founder, Alexei Sokolnikov, the first leader of the jazz band.
