Turbulent Waters follows three lookalike young women in different parts of Europe ruined by rains, drought and storm, whose lives are surprisingly intertwined. It is a contemporary ghost story that deals with global environmental destabilisation through the intersection of three stories.

Once Upon a Recession

In the beginning of 1990s Finland was faced with the most serious financial crisis of its history; recession. Over 400,000 unemployed persons, almost 200 000 bankruptcies and a whole national offspring of insecurity were born in a country with around 5 million in population, all within a few years. How does the childhood during depression look like from adulthood?

The Squirrel

Pasi, a lonely but kind-hearted designer of artificial animals, lives in a world where nature is just a memory and human well-being is organized with perhaps too much care. One day, Pasi accidentally finds the world's last living squirrel and meets Emilia, an official who enforces the rules of well-being. Pasi decides to defy society's rules and help the squirrel, but something unexpected happens—the squirrel becomes depressed and Pasi falls in love.
