Originally from Bury, Greater Manchester, Atkinson took her GCSEs at Castlebrook High School before becoming a commercial and photographic model. Atkinson has dated Cristiano Ronaldo and was engaged to Marcus Bent but they have since split up. Gemma has been in a relationship with martial arts instructor Liam Richards since 2009, they got engaged in August 2012. Gemma found fame playing Lisa Hunter int the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. Gemma then moved on to spin off series with co-star Marcus Patric in Hollyoaks: Let Loose and Hollyoaks: In The City. Gemma has starred in many TV shows, film and even video games.

Hollyoaks: Let Loose
Hollyoaks: Let Loose was a spin-off of Hollyoaks that aired between September and December 2005. The series followed Ben Davies and Lisa Hunter as they decided to leave Hollyoaks for a new life abroad, however, their relationship is put to the test over Lisa's jealousy. The series aired a total of 14 episodes. The series was initially commissioned for 15 episodes, but episode 3 was cancelled suddenly.

The Dyatlov Pass Incident
In February of 1959, nine Russian hikers ventured into a remote area of the Ural Mountains. Two weeks later, all of them were found dead. What happened is a mystery that has baffled investigators and researchers for decades. It has become known as the Dyatlov Pass Incident. When five ambitious American college students are issued a grant to return to the site of the original events, they gear up with the belief that they can uncover and document the truth of what happened to the supposedly experienced hikers. But what they find is more shocking than anything they could have imagined. Retracing the steps of the Russians' ill-fated journey, the students are plagued by strange and increasingly terrifying phenomena that suggest that in spite of the desolate surroundings, they are not alone. The forces at work in the Dyatlov Pass Incident have been waiting for them.
The Friday Night Project
The Friday Night Project was a British comedy-variety show by Princess Productions that first aired on Channel 4 in February 2005 under the title The Friday Night Project. Originally broadcast on Friday nights, the show moved to Sunday nights for its seventh series in 2008. Each week the regular hosts Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr are joined by a celebrity guest host. These guests provide an opening monologue, are interviewed by Alan and Justin and take questions from the studio audience. They also take part in comedy sketches, hidden camera stunts and a game show where someone from the audience is selected to win prizes. When the show was called The Friday Night Project, it was not live; it was recorded at The London Studios on the night before it was broadcast on Channel 4. When the show became The Sunday Night Project, the show retained its Thursday night taping schedule.
