George Michael (born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou; 25 June 1963 – 25 December 2016) was an English singer and songwriter. He is considered one of the most significant cultural icons of the MTV generation and is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, with sales of over 120 million records worldwide. Michael was known as a leading creative force in music production, songwriting, vocal performance, and visual presentation. He achieved seven number-one songs on the UK Singles Chart and eight number-one songs on the US Billboard Hot 100. Michael won numerous music awards, including two Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, three American Music Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards. In 2015, he was ranked 45th in Billboard's list of the "Greatest Hot 100 Artists of All Time". The Radio Academy named him the most played artist on British radio during the period 1984–2004. Wham! in China: Foreign Skies
Best known for their radio staples "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Careless Whisper," the seminal 80s pop group Wham! (George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley) shot Wham! In China: Foreign Skies circa 1985. In the resulting film, the group performs 12 numbers, including the aforementioned hits, "Ray Of Sunshine," "Blue," and "Young Guns (Go for It!)".

George Michael: Rock in Rio II
In January 1991, Michael began his Cover to Cover Tour, comprising 30 shows across the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan, Canada and the United States. The tour was not a billed specifically to promote his new album, but was more about Michael singing covers of his favourite songs, mixed with a smattering of new and more recent tracks, and a selection of oldies. On 27th January 91, George performed at the second Rock In Rio Festival in Brazil's second city, where he gave one of the tour's very finest performances. The show included an unexpected appearance from George's old Wham! partner, Andrew Ridgely, for a three-track encore to conclude the concert which included 1991 versions of Careless Whisper, I'm Your Man and Freedom. Recorded for live TV and Radio Broadcast, the full concert has never before been released.
