The Leaking Bookstore

Our story begins with Junior Detective LIN, who has just been put in charge of a case that appears to be a suicide. Most curiously, the crime scene has many features in common with a scene from a Sherlock Holmes novel. Detective Lin quickly discovers that it is a murder case. Meanwhile, a group of young sleuths supports their detective club president GAO’s dream to win a writing contest. The three club members, psychologist ZHONG, social worker WEN, and pharmacist ZHANG, each harbor a hidden secret. GAO could never have expected that he would become implicated as the killer in an actual murder case! As Detective LIN delves deeper into his case, a series of seemingly unrelated events all end up pointing towards the club members.

A Beautiful Bird Day

The story is centered around the transgender protagonist Tzu-chi who has left home for six years and her sister Tzu-chuan with whom she has fallen out of touch for years. From reencountering each other with Tzu-chuan unable to recognize Tzu-chi, to the emotional nuances triggered by the subsequent recognition, the story profiles the protagonist’s gender identity, the contempt and even discrimination she faces from her work and social environment, and conflicts with her family. In the story, the protagonist goes through a series of unfortunate incidents with her sister. Long-repressed emotions and pressures finally pop the cap off, but this also becomes an opportunity for Tzu-chuan to resolve her inner conflicts. This film presents the theme “one can only truly move forward in life by newly confronting the obstacles they did not overcome in the past.”

Love Leads to The Success

Jian-zhong did not like going to school. At 18, his family factory went bankrupted, and his father ran away, leaving behind a huge debt. He could only stay by his mother who juggled various jobs. She would not sell the factory, and tried everything to pay the monthly mortgage payment. Shortly after Jian-zhong came back from military service, his mother passed away, further escalating the conflict between him and his father. At 41, Jian-zhong works away and rarely comes home. He returns for his mother’s bone collecting ceremony, but accidentally travels through time back to 1989, the crucial year in which the life of his family was turned upside down…

Long Spirit

High school student Li Chih-hui worships martial arts movie star “Long” and dreams of becoming a kung fu master so he can defend himself from bullies. When classmate Chien Li-hua shows concern for the bullied Chih-hui, he begins to develop feelings for her. And when he finds out Li-hua is into divination and wants to become a spirit medium, Chih-hui pens a script entitled “Long and the Magic Princess” and invites her to star in it, but the bullies show up and knock Chih-hui unconscious. When he wakes up, however, Chih-hui suddenly declares that Long’s spirit now possesses his body.
