A story about a boy named Anders, who lives in an ordinary Swedish family in an apartment at the train station. Through his childhood, he experiences life's glorious scents of beautiful flowers and green forest, close and warm relationships with his grandparents and joyful play with his siblings. He has a strong friendship with his father and a great love for his mother. Still he lives in fear of death. He is afraid of losing all of this that is so valuable to him. In his thoughts and fears, he often turns often God, just as his sister, mother and grandparents, and ask Him for help and protection.

Hemsöborna
Carlsson arrives at the widow Flod's farm in the Stockholm archipelago to help in the running of it. He is met with resistance by the widow's jealous son Gusten who is more interested in fishing than farming. When it is decided to hire out some houses for summer guests from the city the equilibrium is disturbed.

Wandering with the Moon
Dan, aged 19, leaves his home after a quarrel with his father. At the side of the country road he meets a traveling theater company who has run out of money. While the City Sleeps
Jompa is unemployed - and not keen on getting a job. He still lives with his parents who are tired of his attitude about employment and regular hours. Jompa and his friends spend their time at nightclubs, cafés and doing petty crimes. While playing poker, Jompa becomes indebted to the criminal Kalle Lund. Of course, Jompa is unable to pay, but Kalle gives him a tip: an old fetcher has always a lot of money at home, and if Jompa could get his hands on the money, his troubles would disappear... In a small town anonymous letters are delivered to five different families. The letters are signed "Veritas" (Truth). They tell of a series of events and conditions that the recipients thought was forgotten and buried long ago.

The famous author Mark Storm's publisher is unhappy with his books and asks him to write books in a more popular genre, crime for example. When Mark Storm comes to his apartment, he finds a burglar, Kurre. He notices that they have a physical similarity and they change identity, which makes it possible for Storm to make empirical studies in the world of crime.

Oss baroner emellan
Baron Leijoncloo comes back to Sweden after many years in Argentina. On his way to his good friend Victor Sällberg's home, he loses his luggage. A con artist, Jönsson, finds it, and uses the baron's title to get invited to the manor of Mr. and Mrs. Blomqvist. By a coincidence, the baron also comes to the manor using a fake name. Stackars lilla Sven
Poppe plays Sven, an orphan who is being taken care of by the kind Mr. Carlsson. However, when Carlsson remarries a baroness, life becomes hard for Sven. The baroness and her two sons do all they can to make it so. The daughter (Anna-Lisa Ericsson) of their even richer neighbour is mistaken for the new house-maid and she helps Sven get ready for the ball that her father is having, while she and Sven secretly fall in love with each other.
