Grounded and romantic Kári loves his simple life in a small village on an isolated island, in one of the smallest countries in the world. But times soon take a turn for the worse; the only source of income for the local community is the fish factory where he works, and when it faces closure, the workers and his best friend look for a way out. But unlike most young people on the island, Kári wants to stay, at peace with things as they are. Mythical Woman
Seals were believed to be former human beings who voluntarily sought death in the ocean. Once a year, on the Thirteenth night, they were allowed to come on land, strip off their skins and amuse themselves as human beings, dancing and enjoying themselves. This short film explores the legend of Kópakonan, literally meaning “the Seal Woman”, one of the best-known folktales in the Faroe Islands.
