Private psychic Mathias Scibolini practices his profession properly and to the full satisfaction of his clients. When the integration of the clairvoyants into the municipal enterprise occurs, he continues to divine under his civil name Mathias Scibolini. The administration is broken up, the fortune-telling services are sloppy and client satisfaction declines. After hours, however, it is possible to go to the clairvoyant's apartment, where everything is as it used to be.

The Proud Princess

It's very human and nice story about lofty princess (her father is amiable but incapable - unforgettable performance of S. Neumann) and good, nice, kind and well-principled young king (prince) who tries to make tender her calm heart to get married with her. After being refused (she's very capricious), he conclude to make her better. He start to work as a gardener at her castle (in secret) and successively bring she to her senses...The story continues when already reformed princess and the young king (she learn about his real identity later) have to take refuge from troops, that princess father (old king) has sent (of course he took a bad and mean counsellors advice). They have to take shelter by several ordinary and poor families, which are always very friendly and give them a help... Of course the tale has happy end.

Long Live Ghosts!

A trespassing gang of boys encounter a ghost in the ruins of a castle. When they rescue the ghost who is caught in a trapset, they become allies in a fight to prevent ruins from being turned into mushroom farm by the city authorities.

The Emperor and the Golem

The Emperor's mismanagement of his country is provoking some in his court to plot to overthrow him. He feels successful, at least, when he discovers the legendary Golem, which he believes can protect him and even cure his imaginary illnesses but, when he disappears while on a bender, his kindly baker, who looks just like him, is mistaken for him, and begins to put things in order. However, the conspirators, not to be outdone, determine to bring the Golem back to life to do their bidding.

Cybernetic Grandma

Trnka’s sci-fi vision of the future in which machines and robots try to substitute themselves into the most beautiful human relationships. A cybernetic robot is supposed to substitute for the loving grandmother of a little girl. The wise grandmother, however, comes back and the girl finds the warmth of her grandmother’s loving arms again. Trnka’s artistic ideas in this film can be described as both poetically fragile and dramatically cautionary.

Velké dobrodružství

A biographical film about the traveler Emil Holub, conceived as an illustrative story of an exceptional man, who, however, encounters the disinterest and rejection of the domestic Czech bourgeoisie. To this is added an international perspective - Holub encounters British expansionism in Africa and indignantly rejects colonial methods, trying to help black people.
