Homos en politique, le dire ou pas ?

“Being French in 2024 means being able to serve as Prime Minister while openly gay.” With these words closing his policy speech on January 30, 2024, Gabriel Attal made history. The documentary *Homos en politique: le dire ou pas?* uses this milestone — the appointment and visibility of France’s first openly gay Prime Minister — as a springboard for a broader inquiry. Journalists Jean-Baptiste Marteau and Renaud Saint-Cricq travel across France to meet LGBTQ politicians of all generations, from Paris to rural towns. Eleven years after the protests against same-sex marriage, has France really changed? Through interviews with figures like Bertrand Delanoë, Sarah El Haïry, Jean-Philippe Tanguy, Franck Riester, and others, the film explores how coming out intersects with politics, homophobia, and representation — questioning whether saying “I’m gay” in politics is still an act of courage or simply a sign of the times.

Homos in France

Homosexuals are more visible in the media, but homophobic acts continue to increase. Political and cultural figures are coming out, but insults, physical violence and cyber harassment are claiming more victims. While society is becoming more accepting of homosexuality, discovering oneself, growing up and asserting oneself as a homosexual is still a unique and lonely journey. Homos en France is the film that tells the intimate story of being lesbian, gay, bi or pan in France today, whatever your background. Through the testimonies of anonymous people or celebrities, the decoding of the great stages of self-discovery, the re-reading of powerful images, of homosexual pride, but also of the more or less conscious homophobia of our popular culture, the film shows the incredible battle that has already been fought but is still unfinished. The struggle to be oneself and to live like others.

Télématin

Télématin is a French breakfast television news show, broadcast on France 2 since January 7, 1985. It is broadcast in Metropolitan France weekdays from 6:30 to 9:00 am CET. TV5 broadcast the show in Canada in its entirety until September 2011: it now shows a 90 minute version between 6:30 and 8:00 am Eastern Time, when the French original version is now 2h30 long. Télématin is hosted by William Leymergie. The show is daily seen by around 40% of the French morning audience, a very high percentage for French TV. In Metropolitan France, the newscasts are presented at 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00, with newsflashes at 6:30 and 8:50, and two press reviews at 7:20 and 8:30. The 6:30, 7:30 and 8:50 newscasts are usually presented by a female reader and the hourly newscasts by a male. The usual readers are Nathanaël de Rinquesen, Sophie Le Saint, Julien Benedetto, Sophie Gastrain, Patrice Romedenne and Frédéric Vion.
