Rape

It's winter in a suburb. A housewife is brutally raped. A young woman becomes a victim of attempted rape. The Police tighten noose on Anders, a young road worker who was seen on the site in both cases. The two women think they recognize him in the lineup, and police investigators use all their strength to solve the case. Anders is a common and simple individual. He could be any youth. The meeting with the ongoing investigation and the solid judiciary, forces him out of a seemingly monotonous, habitual life and forces him to react and think.

Lady Inger of Ostrat

This historical drama is based on a play by Henrik Ibsen and set in the year 1528. The central figure in the low-keyed story is a Norwegian noblewoman who is seeking to bring independence to that country despite the involved political intrigues of the Swedes and Danes, who are using Norway as a pawn in their rivalries.

Wives

Following a drunken school reunion, Mie, Kaja and Heidrun, three school friends now in their 30s, realize how they're dominated by their husbands’ needs and demands. Aching for a taste of freedom, the trio go off on a spree.

Bobby's War

Robert Lund (Roy Bjornstad) is a weary man, and his days as a starring saxophone player seem to be near their end. The Nazis have occupied Norway for some time, and he has been passing the time by telling his son Bobby (Erik Andersson) some tales of his previous exploits.

Wives III

This mellow comedy is the third entry in filmmaker Anja Breien's "Wives" series and stars the same three actresses who appeared in the first two. This episodic film begins with flashbacks to the 1975 film Wives and scenes from 1985's Wives: Ten Years Later. Now ten more years have passed and they are comfortably ensconced in middle age. They have gathered to hold a surprise birthday for Kaja aboard an Oslo streetcar. The three haven't seen each other in ages and much of the story focuses on their discussions of their disparate lives. Every word, smile and tear they share affirms the depth of their lasting friendship.

Wives - Ten Years After

Ten years have passed since our three heroines' first outing in 1975. Now the women meet at yet another class reunion. Not surprisingly, they are still unwilling to call it a night after the party is over. Husbands and children must celebrate Christmas as best they can, while the women spend quality time drinking and taking stock of their lives.

Outer Senja in 1877. A young girl is found apparently lifeless among flotsam and seaweed. The storm has washed her ashore. Miraculously, they revive her, but she has lost her memory, and no one knows who she is or where she comes from. They call her "Båremor" or "The Girl from the Sea." A fisherman and his wife take care of her, and it gradually becomes clear that she has extraordinary abilities. Among other things, she plays the organ beautifully. The girl feels like a stranger among the weather-beaten coastal people, and she is driven to track down her original home. During her escape, she hides in the boat of the wandering vagabond Borr, a notorious and wanted daredevil. On the run from the sheriff and the priest, they try to find their way back to her birthplace.

Burnt by Frost

When is an enemy not an enemy, when is an ally not an ally? The answer to these questions determines the fate of a man. Simons struggle is played out against the rugged landscape of northern Norway. Raised in a close-knit community, he bears the scars of a childhood haunted by rumors. During World War II, the Russians and Americans become a presence in this remote landscape, which will have far-ranging consequences. Victimized by rumor and Norways shifting political allegiances, Simon is denied the final reconciliation he longs for with his community and with himself. When the Berlin Wall falls, his life is once more turned upside down.

Knut Formos siste jakt

The film is set in the Norwegian high mountains in the 1820s, where mysterious natural phenomena play an important part in the plot. Young Knut Formo has gone to the mountains to hunt the great white reindeer. He spends five days hunting the buck, but never manages to catch it. We experience the tension as the rifle is aimed at the buck and his fingers curl around the trigger, and we experience the disappointment when the buck runs away after the shot. Knut gradually becomes exhausted. He begins to mix dreams and reality as his strength ebbs away. The fantasy world becomes a natural part of life for a person closely connected to a powerful nature.
