Biography
Kim Yoon-seok (김윤석) is a South Korean actor. He was born on January 21, 1968. Kim's theater background first led him to be cast in minor roles on film and television. His breakout role came as the villain in gambling film Tazza: The High Rollers (2006), but it was his performance as a pimp and ex-cop in surprise hit The Chaser (2008) that brought him acting awards and stardom in his forties. Kim has since become an acclaimed leading actor in Korean cinema, in films such as Running Turtle (2009), The Yellow Sea (2010), Punch (2011), and The Thieves (2012).

Yu Gang Hyuk was only 7 years old when his father was murdered in a car "accident" and separated from his identical twin, Yu Shin Hyuk. He forgot his name and family and given the name Suh Ha Eun by his adopted father Suh Jae Soo. He falls in love with his adopted sister, Eun Ha and tried to be very honorable about it. He was led to become a cop because of his father's badge. While investigating an alleged case of suicide, he eventually learns of his twin brother. Against the warnings of his peers, Ha Eun becomes more and more involved in this suspicious case. As a part of a larger scheme, Ha Eun is targeted for a hit by unknown individuals. And when Ha Eun and Shin Hyuk finally meet for the first time in twenty years, the murderers kill Shin Hyuk accidentally mistaken him for Ha Eun. As a result, Ha Eun vows to get revenge by giving his enemies psychological torture and takes on his brother's persona as an undercover cop and that is where the drama begins.
1987: When the Day Comes
In January 1987, a 22-year-old college student dies during a police interrogation. Under the orders of Director Park, the police request the body to be cremated in order to destroy evidence. Public Prosecutor Choi, who was on duty on the day of the incident, denies the request and calls for an autopsy. The police maintain the lie that the death was a simple accident, resulting from shock. The autopsy results, however, point to torture as the cause of death. Yoon, a journalist following the case, reports that the death was a result of asphyxiation during torture. Director Park attempts to conceal the truth by ending the case, arresting two detectives including inspector Cho. While in prison, inspector Cho reveals the truth to prison guard Han Byung-yong, who embarks on a dangerous mission to relay the information to an opposition politician through his niece, Yeon-hee.
The Chaser
Joong-ho is a dirty detective turned pimp, who's in financial trouble as several of his girls have recently disappeared without clearing their debts. While trying to track them down, he finds a clue that the vanished girls were all called up by the same client, whom one of his girls is meeting with right now.
