Leo Popper is a happy family man living in rural Bohemia in the years preceding the Nazi invasion. Out of economic necessity he moves with his family to the big city and becomes an enterprising vacuum cleaner salesman. There he embarks on a series of adulterous adventures, has encounters with boxing pros and famous portrait artists, and schemes to purchase the perfect pond to fulfill his passion for fishing. The parents of twins Petr and Pavel are leaving for Afghanistan to build a dam. They entrust their offspring to their uncle Podlipný in Gottwaldov. The boys soon make friends with their new classmates. They are a little envious of their uncle, the pilot, because almost the entire class is interested in airplanes and attends a model-making club. Here, under the guidance of instructor Dáša, they build a model of an OK 12 airplane, with which they want to participate in a competition. The children assume that both Prague boys are also good at model-making. Petr and Pavel are ashamed to admit that they know nothing about this activity. To save their reputation, they decide to secretly learn it themselves.

Hockey requires great commitment and even sacrifice from an early age. The thirteen-year-old players of a school hockey team, led by an experienced and perceptive coach, struggle with various problems of their age, from first loves to low self-confidence and disciplinary problems, but in the end they are all consumed by a sense of responsibility. The film touches on the dark side of the demanding sport, but it often acts childishly and simplifies the complex motivations of teenage boys.

Double Role

An intimate psychological film which elaborates the Faustian theme about the dispute between the body and the soul - a study on human identity. Two young doctors carry out the surgical exchange of the brains of two women who are dying after a car accident - a young girl and member of a criminal gang, and a lonely seventy-year-old associate professor of oriental studies.
