Amarcord

In an Italian seaside town, young Titta gets into trouble with his friends and watches various local eccentrics as they engage in often absurd behavior. Frequently clashing with his stern father and defended by his doting mother, Titta witnesses the actions of a wide range of characters, from his extended family to Fascist loyalists to sensual women, with certain moments shifting into fantastical scenarios.

One of the key factors in Italian unification was the overthrow in 1860 of Francesco, the King of Naples and the two Sicilies, who went into elegant but impoverished exile in Rome with his Queen, Maria Sofia. This seriocomic drama follows the deposed royals as they adapt to their new lives. The former king has recognized the political finality of his deposition, but his queen has taken to traveling in men's clothing all over Italy trying to foment an uprising to restore them to the throne. She is also frantic to have a baby, an heir, but the king has become celibate as a kind of homage to his beloved mother; he spends all his time lobbying the Vatican to get her declared a saint.

Ginger and Fred

Amelia and Pippo are reunited after several decades to perform their old music-hall act, imitating Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, on a TV variety show.

First Love

Ugo is an old actor who feels too young to be in an "old actor's house". He just can't stand the rules of the other old people so he escapes with a young girl.

A group of friends decide to go on vacation and they use an agency, the Via Col Vento tours, to organize it. The latter promises them a holiday of dreams and absolute fun.

Scorpion with Two Tails

An archeologist's wife has recurring nightmares about ritual killings in an Etruscan tomb while her husband is away excavating a lost temple. After a phone call where she is forced to listen to him being murdered, she travels to the excavation site to solve the mystery of his death.

The life and times of Antonio Gramsci from the establishment of L'Ordine Nuovo newspaper in 1919 to his untimely death in 1937, encompassing the birth of the Italian Communist Party (PCd'I), Gramsci's visits to Moscow where he met his future spouse, his election to Parliament, anti-fascism, trial and conviction.
