A small Belarusian town, where Olga, a vivacious and able to stand up for herself and her daughter, lived, was occupied by the Germans. It was she who was approached by the underground with a request to ransom a man from a prisoner-of-war camp. The young woman was shocked by what she saw in the camp - and not finding the man she was looking for, Olga ransomed the young man, calling him her husband. The soldier, as soon as he got stronger, began to rush into battle. And when he died, Olga joined the fight against the Nazis.

Yura Otvertkin, a romantic from Tsarevo-Kokshaisk, is obsessively in love with aeronautics. In St. Petersburg, disguised, he pretends to be the ace Ivan Piramida. A young 19-year old girl Anastasia (O.Bobyleva) comes to a big Siberian construction site. She dreams of being a welder, but at the moment there are no vacancies, and she has to begin her labor activity in a canteen. And after a local kinder garden is left without a mentor, nobody can fancy a better candidate that Nastya. She loves kids, and the main thing is that the feeling is mutual. Once during a storm an accident happens a motor-launch, carrying workers across a river, crashes. Three children become orphans. Nastya doesnt let the construction head send them to the orphanage and decides to adopt them.
