Vanya is an anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist working in a Moscow clinic. A few years ago, his girlfriend Masha died of an overdose, and her mother was paralyzed after such a tragedy. Vanya feels guilty and tries to somehow correct the mistakes of the past - for this it is necessary to raise a large amount of money for the operation to his mother, and the only real way to earn them is to become a "drip" — a person who illegally "pumps out" the rich and famous.

In the film adaptation by Director Anton Rosenberg, the audience opens the world of the game and the armed conflict that occurred in the Norvinsk region, a special economic zone on the border between Russia and Europe. The main operating parties are two private military companies – USEC and BEAR, commencing fierce battles, including the fights with the remaining gangs in the city called Scavs. The protagonist is in the occupied city of Tarkov, the exits of which are blocked by UN peacekeepers and Russian military troops.

During the post-WW2 reconstruction in Russia, bald-headed technocrat Drozhdov equates communism with the empowerment of the ordinary man over the arrogant "specialness" of genius. Dedicated scientist Lopatkin takes refuge in Moscow with the potty, brilliant old inventor Busko. Lopatkin works tirelessly on his invention, embarking on a roller-coaster of rejection and acceptance, his work vilified, plucked apart and plagiarized by colleagues, particularly by his nemesis Drozhdov. Drozhdov's wife Natasha, alienated from her cold, controlling husband, is increasingly drawn to Lopatkin, whom she knew when they both taught at the same school. Soon she runs away from her husband and happily keeps house for the two absent-minded ex-professors Lopatkin and Busko. Natasha is ready to give Lopatkin her own life, love and faith. Lopatkin is eager to sacrifice his life for the idea, doing the utmost for his motherland.

Mystery of the Missing Village

In search of sensational material, the capital's journalist Tatyana Blok finds herself in the village. The reason for the shooting is large-scale: one morning in the village of Verkhnyye Brody (across the river from the Lower Ones), all the people disappeared. Twenty people at once. Money, documents, and all the livestock were left in place. Tatiana takes over the investigation. For her, this is a chance to prove that she was fired from television for nothing, and she is able to shoot high-quality investigative reports. But for this, Tatiana will have to learn how to live in the village, or rather, to survive in it.
