The Promised Land

Denmark, 1755. Madame Ida

Set in the early 1950s, the narrative follows 15-year-old Cecilia, an orphan who becomes pregnant due to an assault by the orphanage warden. To conceal the pregnancy, she is sent to live with Ida, a woman desperate to adopt, residing in an isolated mansion with her lifelong maid, Alma. During her stay, a unique bond forms among the three women, offering solace from their individual loneliness and desires. However, the arrival of the baby disrupts their harmonious existence, leading to unforeseen challenges.

Ride Upon the Storm

The story centers on a family of priests: Johannes, Elisabeth and their sons August and Christian. Johannes is God-like to his sons - he gives, loves, and punishes. His favoritism for August and his disappointment with Christian forces both into making desperate choices in order to either gain his love or break free from him.

The secret

It's a roller coaste coming-of-age story. Focus is on the three kids thrown into extraordinary circumstances, which brings out best and worst in their relationship to themselves, each other, death and having to be/become an adult. Mum's corpse only appears briefly in the first episode, and the morbid aspects of the story are undertoned in relationship to the subtle humor.

Karla & Jonas

Karla met Jonas during a summer vacation at the lake. After being unable to stop thinking about him and their kiss she phones him, making up a school assignment about children living in an orphanage, which is precisely where Jonas lives.

Karla & Katrine

Karla invites Katrine to spend the holidays with her, hoping they might become best friends. As it turns out, nothing goes as planned. Karla meets Jonas and falls in love for the first time, and she nearly forgets all about Katrine. However, the two girls are forced to put their difficulties aside for a while, as they join Jonas in exposing a local gang of thieves.

When Claus, a car salesman and a passionate gambler, gets his 19-year-old son Silas mixed up in considerable gambling debts owed to criminals, he is forced to put his own life at risk to save his son.

Mantis

When Helle Pii moves into Molly’s flat, all seems to work out for both parties. Molly needs a roommate; Helle Pii and her mantis need a place to call home. So what if the room is not very private; and so what if the walls are paper thin? Soon this happy solution turns into both girls’ worst nightmare. There is no turning back when Helle Pii overhears something awful through the wall.

Another without me

Selma and her friend Marie are going to Marie’s family vacation house in Sweden. They meet Marie’s friend, Agnete, and she gets invited along. The film explores the everchanging group dynamic, and what happens when two becomes three.
