The event was headlined by a lightweight bout between Michael Johnson and former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje. The welterweight finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption took place at the event.

The PFL 2 mixed martial arts event for the 2021 season of the Professional Fighters League was held on April 29, 2021.
