Biography
Orestis Makris (Greek: Ορέστης Μακρής; 30 September 1898 – 29 January 1975) was a Greek actor and tenor. Makris graduated from the Athens Conservatoire and first entered the scene as a tenor in the troupe of Rosalia Nika in 1925. He later joined the Papaioannou troupe, before moving to more comedic roles. Makris excelled in the portrayal of folk characters, especially the stock role of the "drunkard". Makris also participated in about forty movies, mostly as an over-strict father. He is considered one of the most significant modern Greek actors. He was decorated with the Order of the Phoenix. He died on 29 January 1975 in Athens and is buried at the First Cemetery in a family grave.

The Island of Silence
"700 meters far from humans, and million meters far from humanity…" The study of the life of the lepers of Spinalonga with a dedication and affection that brighten the neo-realistic and documentaristic framework and style of the film. Plot: We watch romantic and emotional adventures, ideological and sentimental conflicts featuring the patients, doctors and several locals. The doctor Stathis Chtenas (Giorgos Kampanellis) is disappointed at the situation on the island and confesses to the teacher (Orestis Markris) that he wants to leave soon. Their life changes with the arrival of a young volunteer doctor, Angela (Nina Sgouridou), whose dynamic presence transforms life on the island. Stathis and Angela become a couple and make everything to improve life at Spinalonga. However, on the occasion of young Sifis’s (Tzannis Kourkoulakos) “escape” from the island, Stathis’s attitude changes.

Wronged
Angelica, a beautiful and talented girl, comes out of the orphanage and finds work in a secular center. The son of the owner, Alkis, urges her to become a singer and, of course, she is not late to become a star. Some day, however, he learns that the orphanage was visited by an elderly gentleman, Mr. Nicolas, looking for a little girl he had left there many years ago, who was called Angeliki. He immediately searches for him, finds him and so father and daughter get together. Meanwhile, she is sexually related to Alkis.Aaccident, however, causes Angeliki to be blinded so goes to America for treatment. The forced separation and the existence of another woman do not ultimately alienate the young couple and their love will prove to be superior to all obstacles.

The Auntie from Chicago
Charilaos (Orestis Makris), a retired officer with very strict and conservative principles, raises his four daughters with... military discipline, taking care of their culture, their appearance and their good behavior. Despite all his desire to marry them, he does not leave them anywhere alone, as a result of which no man approaches them. His wife, Efterpi (Eleni Zafiriou), as well as his friend and neighbor Xenophon (Pantelis Zervos), make remarkable efforts to convince him to change his tactics, but he insists on his very conservative behavior. But when the conversation reaches the well-to-do sister of Kalliopis (Georgia Vassiliadou) who has been living in Chicago, USA for years, everything turns upside down. She returns to Athens and undertakes to modernize the general's house, as well as help the four girls (and her nieces) to be rehabilitated.

Aristides and his Girls
