La que se avecina is a Spanish television comedy created by Alberto Caballero, Laura Caballero and Daniel Deorador. The TV-series focusing around the inhabitants of Mirador de Montepinar, a fictional building located on the outskirts of a big city. Both its storylines and cast are heavily based on Aquí no hay quien viva, which ended when Telecinco bought Miramón Mendi, the series production company. The episodes debuted on the Telecinco network, and were later rerun by the same network as well as cable/satellite channels FactoríaDeFicción and Paramount Comedy. The series debuted in 22 April 2007 and became popular thanks to its funny characters, witty script, use of catchphrases and capacity to integrate and poke fun at contemporary issues; the program presents a caustic satire of many of the 'types' found in Spanish society. The name of the show involves wordplay, as "vecina" is the Spanish word for neighbour.

Year of Enlightment

April, 1940. Manolo, 16 years old, and Jesus, who is just 8, are taken by their older brother Pepe, a lieutenant in the Army, to a sanatorium for children suffering from tuberculosis, situated on the border with Portugal. Once in the sanatorium, Manolo, surrounded by boys all much younger than he is, feels a bit like the cock of the walk since the only other man around is the handyman Emilio who looks after the gardens and does whatever needs to be done about the place. His wife, Rafaela, is the cook. Manolo meets Irene, a falangist who runs the sanatorium, and the school teacher, Miss Transito, a crabby spinster. He has his first sexual experience, albeit as a voyeur, with his nurse Vicenta. When she has to leave, her place is taken by a girl from the village, Maria Jesus, with whom Manolo falls hopelessly in love. A relationship grows up between them which will mark them both for ever.

Sunday Light

The small Asturian village of Cenciella, Spain, at the beginning of the twentieth century. The quiet life of Urbano and Estrella, a kind and naive couple in love, is seriously altered when they get involved in the fierce struggle between the local political factions.

My Father's Mexican Wedding

Ana, a young Spanish woman who has just been dumped by her boyfriend, and her brother Tono, receive a call from their father to tell him that he is getting married in Mexico to a woman he met on the Internet. When they get there, they discover that the girl is 30 years younger than her father and they begin to live with her new in-laws, with the inevitable cultural clashes that this will entail.

Merry-Go-Round c. 1950

This movie doesn't have any coherent plot. It's the portrait of the lives of different people in the hard years of post-war in Spain (the 40's), and how they manage to survive in a country desolated by the war. Like other films: La colmena or Roma (Fellini) it shows us lots of characters and some moments of their lives.

Evelyn

Evelyn travels to Spain from his native village in Peru. She thinks she will work with her cousin in a restaurant. But is deceived and kidnapped to engage in prostitution at a club road. This is the story of brainwashing, which transforms a small town girl into a sex slave.

A peculiar family, which owns a nougat factory, decides to set out on a trip to Madrid in order to advertise its products in a Food Fair. Besides the disapproval from the family head and company founder, events are not as expected.

This Spanish romantic comedy focuses on ad-agency career girl Lucia and her best friend, dance-teacher Maria. Maria's boyfriend is the sexist Pablo. One night Lucia puts away too much alcohol, sleeps with Pablo, and hatches a plan to have Pablo to herself by finding a new man for Maria.

Lycantropus: The Moonlight Murders

1996 Spanish horror film that is the eleventh in a long series about the werewolf Count Waldemar Daninsky, played by Paul Naschy. Following his near-fatal heart attack in 1991, Naschy made this film as an intended comeback, but it was poorly distributed and received bad reviews.
