The Chain Reaction

An old pickpocket named "Cardinal", during the days of the International Festival of Youth and Students, decides to gather old “personnels” to prepare small and large thefts from the festival participants. During the "conference" it turns out that a complete "personnel crisis" has come. The ensuing meeting with the former bootlegger — Senka-Moroz, who broke with his past and found happiness in his family and honest work, leads the Cardinal to confusion and mental confusion. A conversation with Professor Muromtsev, a terminally ill person who nevertheless cares about the fate of others, shock the "Cardinal" and he takes the first but decisive step towards a new life, breaking with the criminal world.

The Outlaw Ballad

1830s, Moldavia. The groom Todor fell in love with his master's maid, Yustinia. Having found himself in hard labor, Todor organized an escape and, with a group of like-minded people, took refuge in the codry. So, under the leadership of Ataman Todor Tobultok, the Moldavian rebels, who called themselves haiduks, began to fight against the tyranny of the landowners.

How Robinson Was Created

The film is based on the feuilleton of the same name by I. Ilf and E. Petrov. A writer named Moldovantsev delivers a thrilling Soviet‐style Robinson Crusoe adventure on deadline, only to have his editor insist on adding a local party chairman, freed ex‐members, an activist collector, a housing committee and even a meeting table, bell and ledger washed ashore. Reluctantly he complies, so far that he jettisons Robinson himself as an unjustified weakling, transforming his novel into an absurd manifesto of bureaucratic excess.

In one of the small towns of West Germany there is a camp for displaced persons, where hundreds of Soviet people languish. Major Peterson, with the help of Belin and Tsupovych, tries to recruit Soviet people to work in Brazil. But a second list for repatriation has already been drawn up. Peterson arrests Andrei Makarov. The Americans accuse him of the murder of Anna Robchuk, who actually died at the hands of Belin. The underground, with the help of German anti-fascists, manages to get the list to the Soviet mission. Soon a ship with Soviet people who have returned to their native land approaches the pier of the Odesa port.
