2041 - The west of Japan was destroyed in an earthquake. In between the slums within the rubble autonomous areas form with their own currency and administration. In the third communal district, known as Slum-Polis, criminals terrorize the poor population. In the daily struggle for survival the three friends Asu, Joe and the young prostitute Anna search for a little bit of security, but ultimately their strong bond is put to trial.

Black Jack

Black Jack is an "unregistered" doctor with a clouded, mysterious past. He works with his little assistant Pinoko (who has a massive crush on the doctor), dealing with medical cases not very well known, which can be strange, dangerous, or not known at all. But he is a genius, and can save almost any of his patients' life (as long as they have the money for it, that is), and is known to many around the world, especially to those of medicine and science. He's a man of science himself, and does not believe much until he has seen it, yet it is many times he is surprised by love and nature often overpowering the science he bases his life in.

Starting his new life as a resident doctor in pursuit of his dream of becoming a doctor, our main character reunites with his childhood friend the day he enters his program. Being his senior, she teaches him the ropes as he lives his busy life as a resident doctor. One day, he ends up protecting her during a fall. Fracturing bones in both his right arm and left leg, his residency ends up getting put on hiatus for the time being. His care was put under the ward that his childhood friend works at. She looks at him depressed, feeling a sense of guilt for what happened. Seeing her like that, he tells her that she can come and see him on his free time, to which she agrees. She agrees so much that she does more than enough in caring for him. And like that, the hospital love story between these two characters begins.

Honey and Clover

Takemoto Yuuta, Mayama Takumi, and Morita Shinobu are college students who share the small apartment. Even though they live in poverty, the three of them are able to obtain pleasure through small things in life. The story follows these characters' life stories as poor college students, as well as their love lives when a short but talented 18 year old girl called Hanamoto Hagumi appears.
