Biography
Shashi Kapoor (born Balbir Raj Prithviraj Kapoor; March 18, 1938 - December 4, 2017), was an Indian actor of film and theatre, and film producer. Regarded as one of the greatest actors of Indian cinema, he is known not only for work in Hindi films but for also being featured in a number of English-language international films, particularly films produced by Merchant Ivory. A member of the Kapoor family, he received numerous accolades over his five-decade-long career, including four National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards. In 2011, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, by the Government of India.
