The Stars Don't Fade

The film consists of several novels reproducing the most vivid pages of the biography of the first Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of Azerbaijan Nariman Narimanov (1870-1925).

Two Boys from the Same District

Childhood friends Ahmet and Nuri, the sons of poor farmers, grew up together, studied together, and worked together in a factory. Together, they publish the magazine Light, which opposes the colonial policies of foreign capital and military pacts. After their first imprisonment, the friends' paths diverge: Nuri betrays his convictions and joins a reactionary newspaper. His life is now safe, but he finds no joy or peace. Meanwhile, Ahmet, having become one of the main enemies of the reactionaries, attracts more and more patriots to his side.

In one of the collective farms of Kabarda, a group of young people led by the dzhigit Eldar Abukov organizes a horse-sports club. But Ismel Shardanov laughs at the scientific training system of his friend Eldar. Then Eldar challenges him to a competition. The winner must receive the "scarf of the beloved" - the traditional prize of such competitions…

The White Grand Piano

Musicologist Alla Arsenyeva arrives in Tadjikistan on a mission. Her goal is to find a unique white grand piano, known to be made in France in the nineteenth century. Rumours say it was last seen in the republic’s capital Dushanbe. The local authorities, however, are uncooperative and do whatever they can to thwart her efforts, attempting to make the rare instrument national property. But Alla persists, assisted by her new friends, the celebrated composer J.J. Ahmedov, his young colleague Shodi, the charming Lola and the old woman Roziya-Bibi.
