The Medalists

The trail of clues that thickens the plot... Diana is a promising national athlete. After dropping out of the High-Performance Center (CAR) a year ago, she is now back to the place where she’ll reconnect with her brother Sérgio a high-ranking Judo player. Diana dreams of following her brother’s footsteps, whom she sees as an idol, and win a spot at the Olympics, but an accident puts Sérgio in a coma. Aside from trying to reach her Olympic goals, Diana is now driven to find out what made her brother be put between life and death. Despite the police report stating that the accident was blameless and unexpected, Diana will follow the clues that will lead her to believe that her brother might have been the victim of attempted murder.

Welcome to Beirais

Diogo Almada is a successful account manager at a telecommunications company who is struggling with serious stress and anxiety issues due to the constant state of pressure he lives in. His situation becomes worse when he suffers a stroke which puts him in hospital. There, doctors tell him that if he doesn't slow down things could become much worse for him in the future. He also meets the owner of a vegetables and herbs greenery in Beirais, a small village in the midlands, who is looking to sell it. Diogo then decides to buy him out and risk it as a farmer himself. He wants his girlfriend Teresa to come along with him, but she refuses to leave Lisbon due to her career and also because she doesn't want to give up her city comforts. But Diogo decides to move to Beirais anyway, where he is faced with an entirely different reality from what he’s used to.

After a sink full of soapy water empties through a gurgling drain, a finger appears from underneath: Zé, a plumber, is at work. Eva, the lady of the house, interrupts him wearing little but a smile. She coaxes him out and seduction begins, interrupted by the surprise arrival of her lover, Carlão, a gun-toting criminal. Zé hides under the sink, watching through the drain hole as Carlão gives Eva a valuable necklace and makes love to her. Carlão is called away abruptly on business only to have his enemy Zim arrive a minute later to claim the necklace. Zé's still under the sink observing as mayhem descends on the kitchen. Will it end with a bang or a whimper?
