Flavor of Life

A family with three generations living under one roof in the bucolic Yilan countryside. The mother works in a real estate agency, the daughter gives dance lessons part-time, and the grandmother takes care of the family farm. They find themselves all reunited to bring back the amnesic grandfather home and his memory as well. The mother sees his father as mentor and decides to revive her father's old small restaurant.

On Children

Adapted from the novel by author Wu Hsiao-Le, the series consists of five independent stories about parenting, as well as children's pressures of growing up, when faced with the tragic consequences of social pressure, parental oppression and family dysfunction. Each story is told in two parts in this ten-part series.

In these recipes and letters, she finds out how her mother had struggled in her life due to relocation from Japan to Taiwan, the death of her Taiwanese husband, and a battle with cancer. Tae travels to Taiwan to trace her mother's past, reminiscing about the dishes she made for the family.
