The story takes place in the prestigious Alzano Imperial Magic Academy, located in the southern part of the Alzano Empire, where students train in the highest forms of magic. Two of the students, Sistine Fibel and Rumia Tingel, are determined to become great magicians: Sistine is motivated by her grandfather’s last wish, while Rumia hides a deeper secret tied to her past. Their new instructor is Glenn Radars, a substitute teacher who appears totally unmotivated, lazy, and seemingly incompetent. On the surface he’s a “bastard” magic instructor.
1. The Unmotivated Bastard
Glenn is a bastard who only sleeps instead of teaching class at the Alzano Imperial Magic Academy. When one of his excellent students, Sistine, finally gets fed up, she challenges him to a duel to make him teach properly.
2. Just The Slightest Bit of Motivation
Even after losing the duel, Glenn lacks all motivation. Yet through his interactions with Sistine and Rumia, he eventually starts genuinely teaching classes that will help them. Meanwhile, suspicious men show up at the academy...
3. The Fool and Death
The evil mages infiltrating the academy are terrorists belonging to the magic society, Researchers of Divine Wisdom. In order to rescue his students taken captive, Glenn finally exercises his real power.
4. The Magic Competition
Hoping to earn the special reward, Glenn aims to win the magic competition. While Sistine and the others don't know his reason, they all work hard to meet his expectations and start showing unexpected results.
5. The Queen and the Princess
Rumia comes becomes a suspect during the magic competition and the imperial guard targets her life. Glenn manages to save her in the nick of time, but an unexpected individual stands in his way.

The ones pulling the strings behind the imperial guard were the Researchers of Divine Wisdom. Glenn fights to clear Rumia of suspicion. Meanwhile, in the magic competition, the students of Class 2 face…

Re=L joins the academy to guard Rumia, and thanks to her interactions with Sistine and the others slowly integrates into class. She gets along well with her classmates at first during their field research, but…
8. The Fool and The Star
When they arrive at the location for their field research, Sistine and the others observe the white alchemy lab. On the way back, Re=L acts on her own, meeting with her long separated brother, and they confront Glenn as he rushes to the scene.
9. The Reason to Live
Mortally wounded, Glenn manages to hang on by a thread thanks to Sistine's magic. They chase after Re=L who kidnapped Rumia, and Glen storms into the white alchemy lab alongside Albert.
10. Gold Digger!?
After returning from their field research, Glenn and the others spend their days in different ways. On one such day, Leos visits the academy as a guest instructor, and causes a stir by proclaiming himself Sistine's fiance.
11. Face-off! The Magic Corps Battle
Glenn and Leos enter a duel involving the other students in a magic corps battle. Leos's camp is well organized, but Glenn fights back with clever tactics.
12. Finding One's Own Place
Preparations begin for Sistine and Leos' wedding ceremony. Rumia holds out faith that the vanished Glenn will return, but they still have no word from him by the day of the wedding.
