A nun leaves the convent temporarily to help save her family knitting mill from bankruptcy following the death of her brother. Outside the convent she becomes a fairly shrewd businesswoman and feels attracted to one of the men who work at the mill, and thus begins to feel conflict about her religious vows.
Seasons
1. Part I
Sister Gabriel (Anna), a nun in a Silent Order, is informed of the tragic death of her brother and has to leave the convent for the first time in 16 years. During that time she has to come to regard her tiny cell as a prison, and at 34 is becoming acutely aware of her own desire to have a child. This family tragedy is about to change her life forever.
2. Part II
Anna, is caught between two different worlds. We witness her struggle to come to terms with an alien world, as she tries to remember what her father taught her. She is confronted by pain and sadness from her sister-in-law, and sexual hostility from the man who manages the family mill.
3. Part III
Anna, is torn between her life in the convent and trying to save her brother's failing business. She also has to face her own physical and emotional desires in her relationship with Hal, the foreman at the family mill.
4. Part IV
The outside world becomes more alarming as Anna, has to deal with the banks in her desperate efforts to save the mill. She discovers that men are beginning to perceive her more as a woman than a nun.
5. Part V
Anna, is driven back to the convent by a frightening sexual encounter, only to realize that she no longer belongs there. She asks for a release from her vows to undertake the responsibility of the family business.
6. Part VI
Anna, with everyone's help, manages to secure the future of the family mill in spite of efforts to sabotage her work. Anna returns to the convent to sign the papers which will release her and walks out of the convent gates for the last time to face her future.

Land of the Tiger
Land of the Tiger is a BBC nature documentary series exploring the natural history of the Indian subcontinent, first transmitted in the UK on BBC Two in 1997. The production team covered the breadth and depth of India, from the Himalayan mountains in the north to the reef-fringed islands of the Indian Ocean, to capture footage of the country's wild places and charismatic wildlife. Land of the Tiger was co-produced by the BBC Natural History Unit and the WNET/13 network. It was produced by Mike Birkhead and presented by leading Indian naturalist Valmik Thapar. The series is characterised by scenes of Thapar riding on an elephant in locations across the country. The series forms part of the Natural History Unit's Continents strand. Involvement in Family Affairs
