CityKids
CityKids was a television series that aired Saturday mornings on ABC from 1993 to 1994, primarily targeted to a teenage audience. The show consisted primarily of live action performances, interspersed with Muppet segments, courtesy of Jim Henson Productions. The Muppets included original characters designed specifically for the show, serving as a Greek chorus and commenting on the situations of the human characters, but not actually interacting with them. The show's theme song was composed by Malik Yoba &and Raliegh J. Neal II. The duo also composed other songs for the series and served as musical creative supervisors.
Seasons
1. Pilot
David likes a girl but can't muster the courage to tell her. Susan is harassed for being Asian as she walks down the street. The episode features the song "What'cha Gonna Do About Hate."
2. Becoming a Man
After David's cousin Seth has a bar mitzvah. David decides to have one too so he can get a CD player, but he has to perform mitzvahs, or good deeds, to prepare him for the ceremony. Meanwhile, Snoopy waits for a birthday card from his dad. The episode features the original song "Reggawitz.'
3. Get a Job
Angelica and John compete to see who can find a job first. John finds a job dog walking and Angelica finds a job in a fast-food restaurant, but that was the easy part. Keping them is the challenge! The episode features the original song "Work Maybe."
4. The Curse of Ali Baba
Nikki gets a credit card and treats the gang to dinner at her favorite restaurant, Ali Baba's. After seeing his sister dancing with friends in the park, Tito thinks his younger sister Marisol (Aesha Waks) is growing up too fast. The episode features the original song "Credit" by Raliegh Neal II (music) and Malik Yoba (lyrics).
5. Bye, Bye Reputation
Angelica's crush on Juan Cabrini stirs up gossip at school. John tries to pass off a fake report card to his parents after he gets a D in history. The episode features the original song "Reputation" by Malik Yoba.
6. The Mural
Ricky asks Tito to paint a mural to honor his father who recently died. The gang has problems with the request--Ricky's father was a local drug dealer. Meanwhile, David gets caught in a portable toilet while bird watching for biology class in Central Park. 7. Alterations with Attitude
David joins the Big Buddy Little Buddy program, but his Little Buddy Toby turns out to be more than he can handle. The gang forgets to tell Susan their movie plans. The episode features the original song "Eye Can Be" by Raliegh Neal II (music) and Hassan Elgendi and Latoya Brown (lyrics).
8. Quality Time
Snoopy's dad visits and has a big announcement to make. After watching a self-help talk show, Nikki's mom, Alice, takes time off to spend the weekend with Nikki and her friends. 9. Rooftop Thanksgiving
While making Thanksgiving plans, the girls eavesdrop on Zia's phone call and jump to the conclusion that she's planning to divorce Pete. 10. Pack of Lies
Chris tells hist English teacher Mr. Lester (Don Chastain) that he has to attend his grandfather's funeral in order to avoid a test on Macbeth. Angelica buys a smelly herb necklace from a street vendor (Jeffrey Solomon) to attract Juan Cabrini (Robert Rodriguez), a new kid a school. 11. Love Letters on the Hudson
Susan has a secret admirer (Kevin Jordan), and the gang tries to figure out who it is. John has to spend the afternoon with his grumpy Uncle Jasper (Arthur French) while his mom (Angela Scott) is at a conference. 12. All My Trials
Angelica goes to court after getting a ticket for throwing garbage out of her apartment window. Susan's Aunt May takes her to lunch, but Susan feels like she's not good enough for her. 13. I Am Woman
The girls sneak into the Plaza Hotel to see Hilary Clinton after Nikki becomes frustrated that a group of guys at the court won't let her join their basketball game because she's a girl.
