Die Byl
The unit specializes in the investigation of serial murders and is led by Van der Bijl, a former murder and robbery detective who gained fame for his handling of several high-profile cases. Each episode focuses on a serial killer. The main character, Colonel Piet van der Bijl, also known as Die Byl, is loosely modeled on the famous ex-detective Piet Byleveld.

1. Fluitspeler van Ruiterwacht
When some homeless boys disappear, the overworked Ruiterwacht police can't be to bothered. Then Tiaan Bernado's darling child, Rose, disappears in broad daylight. Colonel Pieter van der Bijl, aka 'Die Byl', is called in to investigate the case.
2. Magnus en Mignon
Byl and his team are surprised when they arrive at a gruesome murder scene where the victims are dressed in costumes from the 80s.

Byl is confronted by a killer who knows more about him than Dr. Fritz Barnard. Smiley has a vendetta against Byl and won't stop his killing spree until Byl arrests him.

The team must work with a unit that specializes in gang activity. Byl refuses to share his team with Captain Willem Ruiters and ends up in a firefight with his commander.

There are already two university students who have been kidnapped and murdered by the time Byl and his team are called in. Byl takes control of the negotiations, but is outwitted by the killer.

Byl and Nicky's relationship gets more serious. Does Byl fall in love, and what about his wife, who he says has disappeared without a trace?
12. Agter Die Kap
Byl's dark past catches up with him when Etienne Basson, an old colleague and friend arrives at Byl's house with a gun in his hand. The mystery surrounding Byl's wife is slowly unraveling.

The guarded Byl can finally allow himself to love and be loved. He plans to divorce his wife and ask Nicky the big question. But does fate have other plans?
