Floortje Dessing travels with award-winning photographer Jasper Doest from the Netherlands to Nepal. During this long and adventurous journey over land, they search for stories about the complex relationship between humans and animals. Jasper takes impressive pictures of this adventure, while Floortje talks to the people. The first destination of the trip is Romania. Here Floortje and Jasper meet the passionate Cristina, who with her foundation is committed to taking care of bears that have been rescued from appalling conditions or can no longer live in the wild.
2. Turkey
Floortje Dessing continues her journey with photographer Jasper Doest from the Netherlands to Nepal. During this long and adventurous journey over land, they record how people and animals live together. The next stop is Turkey, where a new animal welfare law has recently been introduced. Here they visit an event that revolves around an age-old but not undisputed tradition: camel wrestling. Floortje and Jasper also have a special meeting with the successful businessman Mert. He shares his home with countless animals.
3. Iraqi Kurdistan
Floortje Dessing continues her journey with photographer Jasper Doest from the Netherlands to Nepal. During this long and adventurous journey over land, they record how people and animals live together. They continue through Turkey towards the border with Iraqi-Kurdistan. Just before they cross that border, they visit Hasan. He gives disabled animals a new chance. Once they have arrived in Iraqi Kurdistan, Floortje and Jasper see how dogs are used to clear land mines. In a refugee camp they meet the Syrian Ayas, who cares about the animals that live there.
4. Iraq
Floortje Dessing continues her journey with photographer Jasper Doest from the Netherlands to Nepal. In Iraq they drive in convoy to Mosul, where the devastation after years of conflict is still great. Jasper and Floortje wonder what will happen to the animals in a city where there has been so much fighting. In the old zoo of Mosul, Floortje hears the story about bear Lula and lion Simba, who were rescued from the war-torn city in 2017. In the south of Iraq, Floortje and Jasper visit the special swamp area and its inhabitants.
