It tells the tale of the Pearson family and their impetuous and ambitious son, Jack, who has left Tyneside for the bright lights and glamour of Manchester. He has secretly married a middle class Jewish girl, Sarah, and realises that it is about time he introduced her to his family.

1. Welcome to Hebburn, Pet

Jack Pearson is taking Sarah home to meet the family in Hebburn, but they think she is his new girlfriend, not his new wife that he just married in Vegas. A great big Hebburn welcome awaits.

2. Ghost Town

Jack and Sarah are back in Hebburn to help Dot move out of her retirement village. Jack also has big news about a book deal and a big publishing advance. Ramsey attempts to woo Denise with the power of booze.

3. Dressing Up Fancy

The red carpet is layed out for the visit of Sarah's parents, Ben and Susan from York. Pauline is immersing herself in Jewish cultureusing google to make sure everything is perfect. Ben and Susan are immersed in Geordie culture with Ramsey's help as well as with Vicky and Denise's choice of outfits for the fancy dress competition at Swayze's.

4. Feeling Dynamic

The Geordie answer to Thelma and Louise are on the road; Dot buys Vicki a new car and nearly drives her off a mental cliff.

5. She Doesn't Just Give it Away

It is Jack's first day back on the Hebburn Advertiser - and he has plans to transform it into a paper that makes a difference.

It is wedding day in Hebburn. Though Jack and Sarah are technically already married, Pauline and Dot are determined to treat it like their special day.
