Our children are struggling to know how to live in today’s world. Unprecedented numbers are being diagnosed with mental health disorders, being medicated, or are facing a crisis of identity. For nearly a hundred years the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust (known as ‘the Tavi’) has been at the forefront of exploring young minds, and this series goes behind their doors for the first time.

1. The Gender Clinic

Two families attend the Tavistock's Gender Identity Development Service -- the only NHS-run gender identity clinic for children and young people with gender dysphoria.

2. Last Chance School

Introduces three children at Gloucester House, the Tavistock and Portman's unique NHS-run school for children with complex emotional, social and behavioural problems.

3. Troubled Girls

One in three UK teenage girls is now said to show symptoms of anxiety or depression. This episode introduces two self-harming teenage girls, and shows the support they receive from Tavistock clinicians.
