Van Hamilton’s first ever trip to his mother’s homeland, Finland, takes a wrong turn as soon as he gets off the plane. The 23-year-old rich kid from California was supposed to have a five-star holiday with his girlfriend Rachel. Instead, he is handcuffed and sent to faraway army barracks to be trained as a commando. Van soon realises that this is not a mistake: he has fallen into a trap set by his parents, who hope that serving in a foreign army will finally turn their loved but spoiled son into a responsible man. Meanwhile, Rachel has to learn to survive in Helsinki without money or a return ticket. She becomes friends with Van’s cousin and his underground rap trio in hopes that familiarizing herself with the customs of the “Nordic white trash” will send her academic career in sociology skyrocketing.

1. Kidnapping

Van Hamilton's holiday trip to Finland turns to nightmare, when he is handcuffed and sent to commando training.

2. Mistake

Van believes he will be released, but Major Miettinen is not willing to admit that Van's army deployement is a mistake. Van's girlfriend Rachel gets to know his cousin's rap group.

3. Guardian Angel

Sergeant Parikka warns Van of the upcoming parachute training. Van tries to figure out a way to avoid the jump. Rachel ends up homeless on the streets of Helsinki.

4. Five shots

Marksmanship qualification test gives Van the chance to get fired from the army. Rachel explores the life-philosophy of the alternate rap group 'Full Moon Bastards'.

5. Lohikontti

Van plans escaping during the evening, but ends up singing Karaoke with military police Minttu. Full Moon Bastards get to throw gig on the same stage.

6. Night Watch

Van arranges himself for the night watch to avoid an intimate night out with Minttu. Rachel's video of the Full Moon Bastards gets a lot of audience but is completely misinterpreted.

7. Camp

The survival camp becomes more than just a training exercise for Van's team. Stenu believes Rachel sees him as a mere clown.

8. Leave

Weekend leave! Finally, Rachel and Van get to spend time together. Or not.

9. Father

Van's father, Bill, arrives in Finland at the invitation of the commander of Van's unit, but gets lost in the nightlife of Helsinki.

10. Icy burn

Van loses his assault rifle in a forest camp and goes to search it with Sergeant Parikka. Rachel, who still has quarrel with Stenu, is leaving home when a strange disease hits the commune.
