Rags to Riches
Rags to Riches is an American musical comedy drama series that was broadcast on NBC for two seasons from 1987 to 1988. Set in the 1960s, the series tells the story of Nick Foley, a self-made millionaire who adopts five orphan girls. Each episode included music videos of hit songs from the era sung by the cast integrated into the plot.
Seasons
1. Pilot
A wealthy businessman decides to soften his "cutthroat" image by adopting some children. He winds up adopting six girls and isn't prepared for the problems that come with them.
2. High Society
Nick forces Rose to become a debutante. He feels that she is spending too much time with her new found religion ""spatzkism"". At a party, she meets a guy named Matthew Taylor who tries to use her. She resists his advances and tries to run away. Nick and the girls get in on the fun of getting even with Matthew which causes everyone to go ""ape"". A secret comes out about Rose's mother, and Nick has to help Rose deal with the emotions she's facing and the loss. Rose makes a splash at the debutante ball.
3. Foley vs Foley
the girls favorite hangout is going to be closed because of a greedy developer.Nick encourages them to fight for what they believe in,until he finds out the greedy developer is his new partner ""Miles Parnell"" and the building to be built is the new ""Foley Center"".Nick and the girls are on opposite sides of the issue and the girls have to convince him Spiro's is already a landmark,and should be saved.
4. First Love
Nick and Diane go head to head in a battle over her latest boyfriend.He forbids her to see him because hes not the right kind of guy for her,she challenges him about his girlfriends.They come to an agreement to cancel both there dates,Nick reneges and Diane finds out.Diane goes on her date and finds out Nick was right all along.
5. Business is Business
Marva wants to start her own business,Nick says he won't help her.Marva does it anyways,now she's in the food business.Her perfect calculations however hadn't counted on backstabbing competition.After an idea from Perry Mason,Marva decides to try an insurance scam,she decides to torch her truck.Nick has to convince her not to,before she gets into real trouble
6. Pattys Mom
Patty thinks shes found her mom.She makes a deal with Nick that she will relent off her search for a while,if Nick stays on the street corner where she saw the woman,for a whole week!!!!. Now Nick is stuck on a street corner looking for a woman with purple boots and a stuffed giraffe wearing tennis shoes.He does find her, and against his better judgment he reunites Patty with her mom.The results are disastrous.In the end Patty stays with Nick.
7. Bad Blood
Nicks brother shows up unexpectedly,and rekindles old wounds between him and his brother.In the meantime Patti gets in trouble at school for using uncle Frankie's tactics to get even with another student.This causes more problems with Nick and his brother- they stop speaking. Nick then learns his brother is dying of leukemia and he tries to patch things up before its to late.
8. Born to Ride
Diane goes for her permit.Nick and the girls star in a Foley Foods commercial.2 swindlers try to fake an injury lawsuit against Diane when she gets into an accident with their vehicle.
