Julia learns from Charles what happened that night when Charlotte disappeared into the sea. The two get closer and closer, which is a huge thorn in Stephen's side. He does everything to get rid of his ex-wife and finally urges Abby to break off contact with Julia. However, the young woman does not want to be further patronized and makes a serious decision.

Abby and Tom want to tie the knot, but the future bride soon has doubts. Does she really make her decision out of love or just out of desperation? Meanwhile, Julia travels to London inspired by a new hope to meet the pianist Lara Jones. This bears a breathtaking resemblance to her daughter Charlotte, who was believed to be dead ...

To pay their last respects to the head of the family, Alex, the family gathers on Endellion. However, there can be no question of piety when the will is read out.
