Running Scared
Running Scared is a British television children's drama serial produced by the BBC and transmitted on BBC 1 in 1986, based on the Bernard Ashley novel and is set in Woolwich with the Woolwich Ferry featuring in a key scene. A gritty series, Running Scared deals with a teenage girl, Paula, whose life is put at risk when she uncovers evidence that could put a local criminal gang leader behind bars. The series is notable for its use of the then recently released Kate Bush pop song Running Up That Hill as its main theme tune.

1. Episode 1
Paula had never heard of the gangster Charlie Elkin until her grandfather witnessed him commit armed robbery. After that, Paula, like her best friend Narinder, discovered what it was to be really afraid!
2. Episode 2
Charlie Elkin is desperate to recover the evidence which could put him in jail. His threats are destroying not only Paula's family, but her friendship with Narinder as well.
3. Episode 3
Narinder finds that she is divided from Paula and from her own family, and Charlie Elkin is the root of all their problems.
4. Episode 4
Paula begins to unravel the clue left by her grandfather, and hopes it will prevent Narinder's family going back to India.
5. Episode 5
Charlie Elkin increases his pressure on Paula, and she realises that none of her family can help her.
6. Episode 6
Paula must now make the unbearable choice between her family and her friend.
