Along the way, he meets Anđelija, a fierce and mysterious young woman who captures his heart. Guided by her, Jovan battles ruthless enemies with an ancient sword, cutting his way to The City.

A blind old man travels through the desert with the help of a boy-guide. The two of them come across an inn where a guslar (a minstrel) is singing songs from Son's Will to the four bandits. They know certain details from those songs, but they think they are just legends made up by people. In order to find out the truth, they force a guslar to sing songs for them....

Jovan of the Grainfolk is captured and forced to participate in the kidnapping of a bride from a wedding. When things go the way he didn't expect, Jovan must find the answer to the question: how can something good grow in a world where only evil exists?

In divided City, one man wants to ascend the throne without caring about the victims. In a world of conspiracies, secrets and death, one girl is left to her own devices. Former lovers, divided by ambition and grief, must become either eternal allies or enemies forever...

Fleeing from their pursuers, the surviving Grainfolk find a long-lost treasure. Faced with the truth, they must accept a game of cat and mouse in order to survive.

In the short history of Jovan's upbringing on the Grainfolk estate, the story of the beginning of their suffering is told. Blackmailed by the City, they have no choice but to turn to their old custom - the sword that chooses the hero.
