Synanthrope

One day, a robber bursts into the burger joint where the sullen college student Tonari (Koshi Mizukami), the temperamental troublemaker Mizumachi (Anna Yamada) and six others work.

Synanthrope's eight employees throw a welcome party for their new coworker, Shizawa. While the group enjoys a follow-up round of karaoke, Tonari (Koshi Mizukami) unknowingly passes by the robber from the day before.

When the group is told the shop is closing down, Mizumachi (Anna Yamada) says she wants to run it herself. Everyone seems in favor, except for Kanna (Yui Narumi), who says she's quitting.

Tonari (Koshi Mizukami) and company reopen Synanthrope but have trouble getting customers. Meanwhile, Orita (Shota Sometani) picks the next target in his quest to find The Woodpecker.

Mizumachi (Anna Yamada) hasn't been going home and is found sleeping in the back room with the account books open. Tonari (Koshi Mizukami) tries to chat her up in the hopes of asking her out to lunch, but things don't go well.

Tonari (Koshi Mizukami) skips out on work, lost in his own thoughts and convinced that Mizumachi (Anna Yamada) fell for the man she encountered at the concert.

Memories of when she was locked up at five years old run through Mizumachi's (Anna Yamada) mind as she spends the night once again at Satomi's (Yuka Kageyama) apartment. Meanwhile, Orita (Shota Sometani) and his crew abduct a certain man.

The morning after someone appears to sneak into Synanthrope, Mizumachi (Anna Yamada) grills Tonari (Koshi Mizukami) about his whereabouts the night before, which he mistakes for her expressing jealousy.

Synanthrope sees lines out the door for its half-off event. Meanwhile, Ryuji (Yuya Endo) and Kyutaro (Afro) get ready to take out the Woodpecker for Orita (Shota Sometani).
