The Diary of the Great Perica

The year is 1964. Zagreb is developing rapidly, just like the pop culture that penetrated the then socialist society. Perica Šafranek is a Croatian-Serbian language teacher at a Zagreb elementary school, torn between dreams and reality, between her caring mother Ana and her ambitious wife Željka. His best friend is Žnida, the son of the late owner of the inn K Žnidaršić, which was nationalized after the war, but Žnida runs his not always legal business from it every day. The sudden death of Perica's aunt Ernest Fulir will trigger events that will change the lives of the heroes of this story.

After performing at a May Day celebration in the school yard, Perica admitted to himself that it was a good feeling he would like to repeat. With the help of Žnida's best friend and self-proclaimed manager, Perica's singing career is slowly starting from a standstill. Although he does not have the support of his wife Željka, Perica will find an unexpected ally in his colleague Nada. However, the first professional performance may not be as glamorous as Perica imagined ...

Perica's first public appearance at a fire party went more than well, and Perica wrote in her diary that she still wanted to sing and perform. Admittedly, in slightly better places, if possible. Željka is moving further and further away and living some of her life, while Eugen Fulir appears when he is least expected. Nada's fiancé Milan sends a letter about the upcoming wedding, and Kaća is thinking about how to increase the traffic in the inn. Žnida is trying to get out of the awkward situation that Inspector Matić brought him into, but he doesn't forget Perica's career either ...

After singing performances in the village fire station and in the selection of Miss Dugo Selo, Perica's career will get a new rise - Žnida arranged for him to participate in the radio show Mikrofon je vaš. But before that, Perica is waiting for a joint performance with Nada at a school event on the occasion of Youth Day, which will reveal a lot. After a kiss with Boss Željko, he submits a request to be transferred to another station. Fulir is courting Mrs. Ana, and Žnida is inquiring about him with Inspector Matić. But all information is paid ...

With an unexpected victory in the radio show Microphone is Yours, Perica's singing career got a new wind in her back, and performances performed one after another. In her private life, she cannot boast of such successes - her marriage to Željko is over, and Nada is in the hands of her fiancé. Even the friendship with Žnid is under great test. Perica's only consolation is the agreed performance in Tucman, Zagreb's main dance party, which should confirm his star status.

The performance at the main dance hall in Zagreb was fateful for Perica - he resolved all disagreements with Žnid, and Nada left her fiancé that evening. It seemed like everything came into its own. But then something happened that no one expected - Zagreb was hit by a catastrophic flood. The entire southern part of the city, Trnje and Trešnjevka, found themselves under water. But the muddy Sava water in that dramatic night full of uncertainty will clarify some relations and bring unexpected alliances ...
